We take fun very seriously in our house.  I truly believe that having fun is one of the most important things you can do in life.  Laughter is the language of the Gods.    So if you can find a way to have fun that is not hurting anybody then do it.  Not just once but again and again. Sometimes we decide to have a laugh literally by doing just that. Altogether now "ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha".  But our humour isn't always so sophisticated!

"Please can I go and play instead Mum?"

Everyday we make deposits in the memory banks of our children and ourselves!  It's so important to fill your life with sparkly, happy, fun things.

The knowledge of my own mortality is a great driving force in working to ensure that almost every day has fun and laughter on the menu; they are just as important to good health as nutrition.  And we have so little time.  Our children are the arrows we send to a time we will not see. It is my desire to make my arrows the happiest and most beautiful ever.
When I see unfit, unhealthy people spending Sunday morning washing their cars, while their children watch telly, I feel sad for them that their car bodywork is more important to them than their own.  We call our car the tractor car and it's dirty and scruffy.  But inside the cargo is happy and the destination is very often fun.

Having a laugh is more important than cleaning, house maintenance (unless things are desperate!) or looking smart. Put it to the top of your "things I must do" list!

Here are some suggestions for having fun which do not include getting pissed or stoned!  (although I do like the occasional glass of wine!):

Kids parties with games or silly sports (include races such as boxes on feet, the real wheelbarrow race, dressing up race, three legged treasure hunt, milk race ( teams compete to see who can transport the most water in a leaky rubber glove and then "milk" the water out through fingers)),

Water fights,
Dressing up,
Building dens,
Cooking over a fire,
Going for walks at night,
Telling jokes,
Watching good comedy,
Camping out,
Trampolining,
Play fighting,
Swimming in the river,
Boogie boarding,
Face paints,
Apple bobbing,
Surprises,
Dam building,
Rafts,
Days out,
Singing,
Picnics,
Dancing,
Most things that kids suggest,
Boards games including Pictionary, Articulate and Hullaballoo.
